Gardening Tip of the Week 1

It’s Gwynne Curry here from ContainerGardenOnline.com with another gardening suggestion.

When you’re looking through those gardening catalogs and making your list for the next season, think about moving outside the box and trying some unusual varieties of basic veggies.

For instance, did you know you can find black and even purple carrots?

Potatoes can be blue, purple, or pink as well as the yellow and red standbys.

Tomatoes – well, the varieties are nearly endless here. Some tomatoes are so tiny you can fit ten in your mouth at once. Others grow as big as melons!

It does take a little searching to find these seeds–try doing an internet search on heirloom vegetables. I guarantee these varieties will interest children in gardening. Tell a child they’re going to get to grow purple carrots, and they’ll be telling all their friends and teachers. You may never get them out of the garden!

Offers quite of bit of fun for the adult gardener, too!

GARDENING QUOTE OF THE WEEK

I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Frankfort Moore, A Garden of Peace

GARDENING DEAL OF THE WEEK

I love gardening, but I have to tell you, if I can find a way to do things quicker and easier, I’ll take it in a heartbeat! That’s why I love this little book on vertical gardening!
