A Container Water Garden for Your Deck or Patio

For a unique gardening experience why not try a water garden in a container by your house on a deck or patio. Containers are a great way to learn about water gardening without committing to a larger, more permanent pond. A container water garden is small enough to save on finances and labor, and equipment maintenance is minimal if set up and properly managed.

Plants used in container water gardens are grown in separate pots and then installed into the water-filled container. After the plant is potted, top the soil with a thin layer of gravel to keep the soil in place. Use heavy clay soil rather than a commercial potting containing fertilizer. Fill the tub with water and set your plants in place.
