Decorating Ideas For Your Outdoor Area
We all love to make our houses look good, but many times when we are decorating we forget about the outside. We go to great lengths to make quite sure that the inside of our homes are appealing, but we neglect to do the same for the part of our homes that makes the first impression. So here are a few quick and easy outdoor decorating guidelines that will help smarten up up the curb appeal of your home.
1. Paint: By repainting every aspect of the exterior of your house, or simply repainting the trim, you can quickly catch the eye of those passing by.
2) Putting out furniture on an existing porch or patio will also make a big difference in how inviting your household seems to be to those coming upon it. Another option would be to buy new cushions or covers for the furniture you already have on your porch or patio. You can also alter the way your patio or porch looks just by adding something as simple as a plant or small statue without spending too much money or time.
3. Walkways: You can make your home look and feel cozier and more inviting by simply adding a walkway outside your house. If you already have a straight concrete walkway, smarten up it up a bit. You could put a little garden bed edging along each side. putting small solar walkway lights on each side or you could plant annual flowers, like petunia, along each side. If you do not already have a walkway and want to create one, I think the prettiest are those made of stone. You can make it even more special by having it not lead straight to the doorway, but wind through a particularly pretty patch of your yard.
4. Yard ornaments: These do not have to be complicated. You can simply use a bird house, an outdoor lantern light mounted on a pole, or a beautiful array of flowers in a wheelbarrow. Not only does putting something unique in your yard help to define you and your tastes, it also makes your home stand out from that of your neighbors.
5. Flowers, Plants, Vines & Bushes: Probably the most popular way to spruce up a yard quickly is to simply put out some pretty plants, bushes, vines and flowers. If you are looking for something that will give a quick addition of color, you should look into what annuals are currently in bloom. To get continuous color and greenery, plant some perrenials too. Then once the annuals are starting to die out, you’ll have something to replace them. You’ll also have the added joy of seeing the perennials sprout again for several years to come.
