Rid Your Home Of Pests
After eating your pizza, or after the roast you have prepared for the family, you take your trusty towel to wipe the food and drink stuck on the tabletop. Part of your morning routine also includes dusting the surfaces around the house, and perhaps a quick sweep of the floor. But while you may be doing your fair share of the cleaning, it takes more than just a mop, a towel, and a feather duster to keep rats, cockroaches, and other vermin out of your house. Why and how to control pests? Read on.
What You Can’t See Won’t Hurt You?
All of the leftover food has been put neatly in the refrigerator and the trash has been taken out. What does it matter if a few roaches are creeping along the walls? If you had x-ray vision, perhaps you could see some mice playing in the space behind your wall. Did you realize that typhus, salmonella and meningitis are only a few of the diseases that are carried around by rats? Gastrointestinal complications, vomiting and being admitted to the hospital can all come from the bacteria that are found on the cockroach’s feet, but they are also found in this insect’s stomach which it uses for digestion.
Roaches carry the worst allergens to trigger asthma, and can even pack in the few drops of dysentery, tuberculosis, leprosy, cholera, and even polio virus between its wings. Think the house fly’s flying around in annoying circle is the worst? Doctors think the yaws, diarrhea, anthrax, parasitic worms, and even Chlamydia that it can bring is worse.
Holistic Pest Prevention
For most homes, a pest prevention system can be built using poisons, traps, and the elimination of nesting sites. When choosing poisons, make sure that you take the rest of the household into account. Orient the rest of the household about the poisoned baits that you have set around the house, and make sure that young children will not have access to them. Do not leave these on the floor where an infant may crawl to, or which a dog can mistake for food, and instead, place the poison on the crevices which are not only inaccessible to small children and pets, but which are also the likely places where vermin hide out.
Insect sprays are effective against roaches, flies, and mosquitoes, but only if you purchase products that constantly upgrade their formulation. If a cockroach survives ingesting a certain formula, all of its offspring will be resistant to the said poison. Make sure you buy from a manufacturer that understands the uncanny mutational capabilities of insects.
Never Too Careful
The simplest way to understand the saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness is when you go to check out what creatures are taking up space in your home out of the filth that you do not clean. Yes, you must keep taking out the trash, but make sure that the top of the trash can is tightly sealed. Check for unlikely cracks, holes and crevices which are all rats need in order to make a home. If you want to make sure that mosquitoes are not hanging around, remove all stagnant water. If you want to use traps effectively, then place them around the grounds that pests use for breeding and in places where pest food is available such as trash cans. You can never be too careful when it comes to health and pest control.
